The Forefather of holistic thinking – Edgar Cayce (1877-1945)
One of six children, Edgar Cayce was born south of Kentucky on March 18, 1877. While initially rather dreamy & not present at school, the reprimands of his father were harsh. Under esoteric guidance he developed a photographic memory & was able to access vast amounts of theory & knowledge. Growing up, Edgar had no pre conditioned limits to his visions, often connecting & conversing to the deceased, the elementals & angelic beings.
He is now considered the forefather of wholistic medicine & the new age movement.
Highly religious, Edgar studied the teachings of the Christ & suffered great personal angst as his channelings & esoteric theories conflicted with his religious beliefs & social conditioning. Cayce left school in the equivalent of the 9th grade & pursued an endless quest for employment & income. He was married in 1897 & had 3 children, 2 sons went to war & married on return, the third child was lost to illness early in life, prior to Cayce’s trust & validation of his healing gifts.
