Male Archetypes & Astrology – King, Warrior, Magician, Lover

April 17, 2013

According to Robert Moore & Douglas Gillette every man has a predominant archetype or persona – King, Warrior, Magician, Lover. (1) In their book of the same title they explore the archetypes, masculine ritual, boy psychology, male potential & the need for mature male role models in our everchanging world.

“Reading this book should help you understand your strengths and weaknesses as a man and provide you with a map to the territories of masculine selfhood which you still need to explore.”

KWMLKing – earth, sun/saturn

The King like to delegate, expects to be treated like royalty at all times, he is demanding & autocratic. Shadow self: tyrant &/or bully

Warrior – fire, mars/pluto

Warrior types protect, defend & fight for justice, they are competitive & adventurous. Shadow self: sadist &/or masochist

Magician – air, mercury/uranus

Magicians are eccentric, inventive, technical & obsessed with mental pursuits. The Magician type approaches life from the mind, thinking outside the square with the desire to manifest & create. Shadow self: manipulation &/or denial.

Lover – water, venus/neptune

Lovers are mummy’s boys who want to seduce, charm & romance. They are idealistic & creative but often weak & lacking in boundaries. Shadow self: addiction &/or impotence.
