Shiva – Destroyer of Ego

August 9, 2012

Shiva means auspicious one & pertains to the process of becoming god-like. He is considered an all-seeing, all encompassing yogi. Shiva is creator, preserver, destroyer, concealer & revealer with the intention of breaking down that which is not for our highest purpose to reveal true bliss. He is almighty & powerful but pure of heart & intent & is often considered a contradiction.

Pictures depict Shiva holding a trident, an enlarged third eye, matted hair coiled with serpents, sitting atop a tiger skin or emerging from the ashes, symbolic representation for his role as the great transformer.

The story goes that Shiva drank poison from the sea & with a burning throat journeyed to the highest mountain to drink of the purest cold mountain stream to ease the suffering. He is often pictured with a bright blue throat & associates to the number 5 or throat chakra.

Shiva resonates to Kali or the story of Pluto in Astrology, a god who is able to travel deep into the belly of the underworld, to purge & cleanse & return to the world where others could not!

Call on Shiva for deep & personal transformation & transmutation!
